Divorce
Divorce law in England and Wales changed on 06 April 2022, removing the concept of fault and introducing a joint application option. Divorcing couples will no longer have to allege that the other was at fault during the marriage nor wait a period of 2 to 5 years post separation to commence proceedings.
The terminology has changed too. You will no longer file a petition for divorce. It is now simply known as an application. A Decree Nisi is now known as a conditional order and a Decree Absolute is a final order.
